Hipsters in the 'Burg Revolt! AGAINST THEMSELVES

There's one thing that is evident from this hipster phenomena: In a movement that is seemingly driven on irony, there is literally NOTHING that anyone can do that is not ironic in trying to bring it down.

I mean, it started as an individualist movement which brings to mind a particularly insightful Silver Jews lyric: "When you are 15 you want to look poor/ Do onto others and run like a mother/ I don't want to be poor anymore".

FROM GOTHAMIST:

First the communists protested American Apparel in Manhattan, and now someone has gone and thrown rocks through the windows of the company's store on North 6th in Brooklyn. FreeWilliamsburg reports that flaming trash was also involved in last night's retail retaliation, and the attackers may currently be armed with blogs (according to employees at the store). A witness told them, "There were about 50 guys dressed all in black, wearing masks, and causing total mayhem all along North 6th St, dumping out trash dumpsters and setting everything on fire in the streets, and then smashing all the windows of the American Apparel."

Pantha du Prince Remixes by Fourtet and Walls

Pantha du Prince's "Stick to My Side" is one of the focal points of his fantastic new album Black Noise, featuring vocals from seminal Animal Collective member, Noah Lennox.

This track is being given the remix treatment by a variety of folks for an upcoming single remix EP, out in the next few days.

Two of note are that of Four Tet, which is a bit of an ambient dancing take on the track while the Walls remix clearly seems to inject some decidedly more Animal Collective attributes to the song. Check em out below.
